Arriving by sea
Moorings, advance notice of arrival, the rules on the Reef Line and how coastal defence works.
Where you can moor
Visiting vessels moor at:
- Puerto Coral harbour
- Northpoint Landing, the north jetty
- the Mangrove Bay visitor moorings
Follow the directions of the Harbour Master and the reef wardens.
Give advance notice
Before you set off, give advance notice of arrival. When it is approved your vessel is cleared with Coral Control for the arrival window you asked for, up to 72 hours.
If you are arriving without a registered craft, for example swimming or diving, you can apply for personal clearance with the same form.
Advance notice is not a visa. Everyone on board must hold a visa, residence permit or certificate of citizenship.
The Reef Line
The fringing reef around the island is a protected area. You must not anchor on it or within 200 metres of it except on a fixed mooring, and you must not take coral, shell or reef fish. During the coral spawning season further rules apply (GN 8/2026).
Read the Reef Pledge.
Coastal defence
Vessels are tracked by Coral Control in the same way as aircraft, and the same border status applies. A vessel without clearance that enters the Air Defence Identification Zone is hailed and warned, and when the status requires it may be engaged.
Any firearm or ammunition on board must be declared on arrival to a police officer, an immigration officer or the Harbour Master, and delivered unloaded to the Police station, Puerto Coral (section 32).
