Your Government
How Coral Island is governed: the President, the Cabinet, the ministries, the independent bodies and the laws.
The President
Lucy Alvarez, President of Coral Island
Head of State and head of the Government. The President chairs the Cabinet, assents to the island's laws and holds every ministerial portfolio not assigned to another Minister.
How the Government works
Coral Island is a sovereign, self-governing island state. Its Constitution came into force on 20 September 2026, Founding Day.
The President is Head of State and head of the Government. She chairs the Cabinet, which is collectively responsible for the policy of the Government. Every ministerial portfolio not assigned to another Minister is held by the President.
Until the first Island Assembly is elected, the Cabinet sits as the Transitional Council and ordinances are made by the President on its advice.
Holding the Government to account
- Every appointment, rule and licence the law requires to be published appears in the Gazette.
- The President and Ministers publish their interests in the Register of Interests.
- The Auditor General audits the public accounts.
- The Complaints Commissioner reviews complaints a ministry has not resolved.
- Anyone can ask for information the Government holds.
