The Arms

Arms of Coral Island, with crest and motto BETWEEN THE REEF AND THE SEA

Blazon. Azure, issuant from a base barry wavy argent and vert-de-mer a coral branch Or, in chief a mullet Or. For a crest, a conch shell Or. Motto: Between the reef and the sea.

  • The coral branch stands for the reef that gives the island its name and shelters its harbour.
  • The waves stand for the channel between the island and the mainland, which every visitor crosses with the Government's permission.
  • The star stands for self-government.
  • The conch shell above the shield is the call that gathers the island together.

The shield alone is used on this website and by every ministry, with the name of the ministry beneath the words "Government of Coral Island". The full achievement, with the crest and motto, is used by the President and on documents of state.

The Flag

The Flag of Coral Island: deep blue, with a wavy white stripe above a band of lagoon green, and a golden coral branch beneath a golden star in the hoist

A flag of deep blue, bearing across its lower part a wavy white stripe, for the Reef Line, above a band of lagoon green, and in the hoist a golden coral branch beneath a golden star. Its proportions are 3 to 2.

The Seal of the Government

Seal of the Government of Coral Island GOVERNMENT OF CORAL ISLAND BETWEEN THE REEF AND THE SEA

A roundel bearing the coral branch, the waves and the star, within a golden ring and a deep blue border inscribed "Government of Coral Island" and "Between the reef and the sea". The Seal authenticates documents issued by the Government: visas, certificates, licences, permits and decision letters.

The symbols are proclaimed by the President under Article 3 of the Constitution. Read the proclamation (Proclamation No. 1 of 2026).

Founding Day

Coral Island took charge of its own affairs on 20 September 2026, when the Constitution came into force. Founding Day, 20 September, is a public holiday.

Rules of use

Use of the arms is controlled by the Office of the President.

  • The Arms, Flag and Seal may not be used for commercial purposes without the permission of the Office of the President.
  • The Arms are never shown over photographs, animated, or recoloured for a ministry.
  • The Arms, Flag and Seal are not covered by the Island Open Government Licence.

The Seal authenticates documents issued by the Government. Anything that carries the Seal can be checked on the verification page.
