Aircraft and vessels can now request entry clearance online

Pilots and masters can apply for permission to land or give advance notice of arrival before they set off, instead of calling Coral Control on approach.

PUERTO CORAL, 29 September 2026. Pilots and masters of vessels can now apply online for clearance to enter Coral Island airspace and waters before they set off.

Coral Island airspace and waters are protected by the Coral Island Defence Force under the Border Security and Airspace Ordinance 2026. Aircraft and vessels approaching the island are tracked by Coral Control and, depending on the border status in force, are hailed, warned and may be engaged if they have not been cleared.

Until now clearance could only be requested by radio on approach. From today:

  • pilots can apply for permission to land at Coral Island Airfield or another approved landing point
  • masters can give advance notice of arrival for a vessel, and anyone arriving without a registered craft can apply for personal clearance

Clearance takes effect within a minute of being granted and lasts until the end of the arrival window requested, up to 72 hours. Coral Control continues to accept requests by radio with /coralaccess.

Clearance to enter is not a visa. Everyone on board must still hold a valid visa, residence permit or certificate of citizenship.

The border status in force is always published on the border status page.

Ends.
