Protected Places and Restricted Areas Ordinance 2026: commencement and declaration of protected places

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Protected Places and Restricted Areas Ordinance 2026 (No. 20 of 2026), made by the President on the advice of the Transitional Council on 29 September 2026, comes into force on 1 October 2026, and that under section 3 of the Ordinance the following are declared protected places from that date:

  1. Government House, Puerto Coral, with its grounds and helipad, except the public counter and the border desk while they are open to the public.
  2. The Government Complex, Puerto Coral, except its public counters and the public areas of the Court Registry while they are open.
  3. Coral Control and every installation of the Coral Island Defence Force, including its air defence sites.
  4. Coral Island Airfield: the runway, taxiways, apron, control facilities and every area beyond the passenger terminal.
  5. The Police station, Puerto Coral, except its public front office and the firearms counter while they are open.
  6. The berths of Coastguard Command at Puerto Coral harbour.

No person may enter a protected place, other than a public part named above while it is open, without the permission of an authorised officer (section 4).

No unmanned aircraft may be flown within 500 metres of a protected place without the permission of an authorised officer (section 7).

Nothing in this notice affects the duty of a person who lands on Coral Island without clearance to report at once to the border desk at Government House under section 10 of the Border Security and Airspace Ordinance 2026.
