Misuse of Drugs Ordinance 2026: commencement
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN under section 1 of the Misuse of Drugs Ordinance 2026 that:
- The Misuse of Drugs Ordinance 2026 (No. 16 of 2026), made by the President on the advice of the Transitional Council on 29 September 2026, comes into force on 1 October 2026.
- Controlled drugs are divided into Class A, Class B and Class C, as set out in Schedule 1 to the Ordinance. The maximum penalties for each class are set out in Schedule 2.
- Cannabis, cannabis resin and any product containing them are Class C controlled drugs on Coral Island, even if they were lawfully bought elsewhere, including in Los Santos. They may not be brought to the island (section 4).
- It is not an offence to possess a controlled drug supplied by, or on the prescription of, a medical practitioner of the Island Health Clinic for treatment (section 14).
- An adult found with cannabis not exceeding 28 grams, for their own use, may be given a penalty notice instead of being prosecuted, no more than twice in 180 days (section 18).
